Malaysian ‘nude games’ goes viral on social media
KUALA LUMPUR — A video of a group of people in the buff outdoors, allegedly participating in a so-called “Malaysia-International Nude Sports Games 2014 Extravaganza” — claimed to have occurred with the approval of a ranger at Taman Negara — has been causing a stir on social media.

Police have identified 15 people from a video clip purportedly of a Penang Nude Sports Game at the National Park in Teluk Bahang.
State police chief Abdul Rahim Hanafi told a press conference that the 15 were of various nationalities including seven Malaysians.
“There are four Singaporeans, two Myanmar nationals, an Indian national and a Filipino,” he said.
The clip, lasting nearly five-and-a-half minutes, was allegedly shot on a secluded beach in Penang where “naturists” frolicked and took part in physical activities out in the open.
The participants were seen racing one another in the nude, performing kettle bell exercises around a campfire and a “Gangnam-style horse dance” where a woman straddles a man on his back as he walks forward.
In one activity, a naked woman is seen trying to climb over three men as they lie shoulder-to-shoulder in the sand. All the activities were performed without any clothes on.
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the island did not allow any illegal nude events to be held on its shores, despite claims that it was the venue of the nudist event.
He claimed ignorance of the event, adding that the state would never permit such an illegal event to be held.
“It is important to note that in Penang, we don’t even allow casinos to be built, we will definitely not allow such an event to be held here,” he said in a press conference at his office today.”
“I can guarantee that Penang state government will not issue any approval for such an event to be held here,” Mr Lim said.
On Facebook, the video has triggered a debate over its authenticity, with some Internet users defending the “naturists”, saying the group had every right to go nude as it was at a secluded location away from the public eye.
A summary of the video — which was credited to Mr Albert Yam — listed his location as Australia, but a Google search of his name also lead to the Naturism in Singapore page on meetup.com, where he is listed as a member.
Previous uploads from Mr Yam’s Vimeo showed a slideshow from last year of a visit by the Nude Sports Games 2014 organising team to the beach, which also implied that the park rangers in charge of the beach had agreed to allow the event, even including photos of a few people believed to be the rangers having a discussion with the Games organisers.
