'Raja Bomoh' performs ritual to protect Malaysia from North Korean attacks

KUALA LUMPUR — Have no fear Malaysians, “Raja Bomoh Sedunia” is here to protect you from possible attack from outside forces, including North Korea.

In his latest antic, the famous Malay shaman Ibrahim Mat Zin has released a three-minute 18-seconds video, which featured him and his disciples performing a ritual on a beach in their effort to protect the country from harm.

The video, which has gone viral on social media, featured the self-proclaimed “Datuk Mahaguru” (Grandmaster) and his three assistants wading in ankle-deep water, holding two coconuts, a pair of sticks used as binoculars, five bamboo 'cannons', a carpet, and a bowl of seawater.

Ibrahim, clad in a suit, recited prayers throughout the ritual and threw the coconuts into the water as the video clip ends.

There was also a disclaimer in the video, stating that the ritual should not be conducted at home.

“This time, the ritual is to protect Malaysia from any threat or attack from other countries especially North Korea.

“Besides that, the ritual is also to soften the North Korean Supreme Leader’s heart so he will release the 11 Malaysians immediately and resolve this situation (Malaysia-North Korea diplomatic tension),” Mr Ibrahim said.

He also explained that the use of bamboo cannon has a symbolic significance throughout the ritual. He said it was not meant as an act of provocation but merely a cautionary measure to ensure that the conflict will be resolved soon.

North Korea had last week barred Malaysians from leaving the country following a diplomatic tension between the two nations over the murder of Kim Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on Feb 13.

Malaysia had expelled North Korean ambassador Kang Chol after the latter made critical remarks against the Malaysian government and authorities which conducted the investigation.

Mr Ibrahim became well-known after he performed a ritual at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport to help locate the missing Malaysia Airlines MH370 plane in 2014. NEW STRAITS TIMES
