The eldest brother of late Cantopop diva Anita Mui, Mui Kai Ming, was recently snapped by paparazzi shopping hand in hand with a woman... who is not his wife.

When contacted by reporters, Kai Ming, who turns 70 this year, was initially taken aback by the media attention, though he later revealed that the woman is his girlfriend and that they holding hands is no big deal .

When asked if his wife, who is a 56-year-old Malaysian, is aware of their relationship, Kai Ming said: There's no problem, is there anything wrong?

As for whether the woman is his second wife, he shot back: “What era is it already?

In fact, when questioned if they are all living together, he said more or less , before adding that he and the woman have known each other for several years.

Netizens have since expressed their disgust at Kai Ming’s behaviour, labelling him a “jerk” and a “scumbag”.

Kai Ming has a reputation for being a loafer. According to reports, he stopped working after marrying his now-wife in 2012.

The couple has a son and the family reportedly live off Kai Ming’s mum Tam Mei Kam, who receives HK$70,000 (S$12,000) a month from a trust fund set up by Anita before she passed away.

Anita died at age 40 in 2003 from cervical cancer. Before her death, she had set up a will and trust fund to manage her estate, which was estimated to be about HK$100mil (about S$18mil).

Anita also set aside funds to provide for the education expenses of her four nieces and nephews. Anita's older sister Ann died of womb cancer in 2000 and her other brother Tak Ming passed from throat cancer in 2015.

However, Mei Kam and Kai Ming tried and failed to overturn the validity of the will, claiming that the late singer was not of sound mind when she wrote it.
