Anita's nephew, now 28, and his younger brother had vanished from her life after the passing of their mum in 2000. The singer was searching for them until her death in 2003.

One of the biggest regrets of the late Anita Mui, who passed away from cervical cancer in 2003, was that she was unable to reunite with her elder sister Ann Mui's two sons.

Ann, who was a singer and actress like her younger sister, died in 2000 also from cervical cancer

Now, some 18 years after Anita's death, Ann’s eldest son has resurfaced on social media after watching his aunt's biopic, Anita.

According to reports, before Ann succumbed to her sickness, she had requested for Anita to take care of her sons, Pan Wenhao and Pan Jinhao, who were then seven and five respectively.

But Ann's estranged husband Pan Li De left Hongkong with the boys following her death to start life anew in another country.

As Li De did not leave any lines of communication open, Anita had no way to contact them, and the trio vanished from her life.

In an interview before her passing, Anita shared her regret at being unable to take care of her two nephews.

Addressing Ann, Anita said: “ I know that you especially dote on and worry about your two sons. I searched everywhere and all the time, but was ultimately unable to find them. Everyone has no idea where your husband left for with your sons. I heard that they went to Beijing, but I couldn’t find them even after searching there. We’ve lost contact with them, have they come forth to visit you?”

Recently, netizens found a Facebook post from a man claiming to be Wenhao, Ann’s eldest son.

Wenhao, who’s 28 this year, revealed that he recently watched Anita for the second time.

In the movie, the actress who plays Ann expressed how she felt after being diagnosed with cervical cancer saying: “I don’t know if I would be able to watch [my sons] grow up…”

Referencing this line, Wenhao wrote: “Mummy, although you were unable to see my brother and I grow up here [on Earth], I know that you’ve always cared for us up in Heaven… Auntie, you dedicated your life to the stage, to music and to your fans, regardless of where you are now, I hope that you’ll always be filled with happiness ‘cos even till today, there are still so many people who love you, and miss you”.

Hongkong media outlet Oriental Daily News also managed to get in touch with Wenhao, who’s now based in Vancouver, Canada.

According to reports, Wenhao and his brother were unaware that Anita was searching for them prior to her death.

Apart from sharing some pictures from his growing up days, Wenhao also said: “After watching the movie, I really felt like I needed to do something for my mum and aunt, but I know that growing up well is the best form of repayment [for their love].”
