Barcook Bakery offering bread ‘Christmas roast turkey’ stuffed with chicken and creamy potatoes

It looks like a pillow with wings and legs.

Turkey is a must-have for Christmas celebrations, but if you dread having to carve up a chonker of a bird, here is an alternative: A ‘turkey’ made from bread. No knife needed — in fact, you can even tear it with your bare hands.

Bread turkey

This curiosity is offered by homegrown chain Barcook Bakery, which is now accepting preorders for its Festive Chicken Loaf ($24.90). Despite its name, it comes shaped sort of like a roast turkey, complete with wings and legs. Hilarious.

According to the bakery, it even comes with stuffing like a traditional festive turkey. Each ‘roast bird’ is loaded with “chicken thigh, creamy potatoes, onions and mixed herbs”. Reminds us of a main dish and side dish for Christmas rolled into one.

Customers who want this loaf can preorder it at any of Barcook Bakery’s 10 outlets islandwide from now till Dec 11. Collection dates are from Dec 15 to 17, and Dec 22 to 24. The chain is also offering log cakes and Christmas-themed buns at three for $5. This includes a Sausage Tree that’s really a sausage bun shaped like a Christmas tree, a Turkey Ham & Pineapple bun, and a Raspberry Chocolate bun dusted with a powder sugar snowflake. But the biggest conversation starter at your dinner table this year might just be that roti turkey.

Festive Chicken Loaf is open for preorders from now till Dec 11 at all Barcook Bakery outlets. For outlet information, go to www.barcookbakery.com.
