Blackpink’s Lisa is the Asian star who took the shortest time to hit 90 million followers on Instagram

K-pop group Blackpink is one of the biggest bands in the world now and its four members — Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa —  are among the most-followed people on Instagram.

In fact, Lisa, 25, recently became the fastest person from Asia to reach 90mil Instagram followers. And the star, who has 90.3mil followers at press time, did it in four years and eight months.

There are only two other people from Asia with more followers than Lisa on IG.

The first is Indian international cricketer Virat Kohli, who has a whopping 240mil followers. The other is the Israeli Hollywood actress and star of Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot who has 98.2mil followers.

Yes, Israel belongs to the continent of Asia and is part of the Middle East region.

The Thailand-born K-Pop idol recently broke the record to become the fastest Asian person to hit 90mil followers on IG

Lisa left her hometown of Buriram Province in Thailand for South Korea at a 14.

Despite not knowing any Korean, Lisa aced her trainee auditions, in no small part thanks to her impressive dancing ability. She is now widely-regarded as one of the best dancers in K-pop. 

Her well-received stints as a dance mentor in seasons two and three of Chinese reality competition Youth With You further boosted her popularity amongst Chinese-speaking audiences. 

Lisa is also the global ambassador of luxury brands Prada, Celine and Bvlgari, and is often seen on the covers of magazines and on the front row of fashion shows.

There is little wonder why Lisa is also the most followed K-pop idol on IG.

The other Blackpink girls also have massive followings on Instagram. Jennie has 75.8mil followers, while Jisoo and Rosé have 70.2mil and 68.7mil followers respectively.
