Brother Of Anita Mui Says His 13-Year-Old Son Has Cancer, Son Says Don’t Believe His Father’s Lies
The teen, who now lives with his mum in Malaysia, says his father is making use of him to stir up news and doesn’t care about him at all.
The infamous brother of late Cantopop diva Anita Mui, Mui Kai Ming, 70, is back in the news after he claimed that his 13-year-old son Richard has a suspected tumour on his neck.
"My son is in Malaysia. We found a tumor near his neck and I don't know if it is cancer, so I really want to look for my mother and tell her that her grandson has some medical issues. I want to raise money to bring him back to Hong Kong for treatment,” he said.
According to Kai Ming, his 98-year-old mother Tam Mei Kam had agreed to give him HK$5mil (S$900K) when he is 70, which was why he went to look for her.
However, Kai Ming alleged that his nephew Mui Pak Lun and Mei Kam’s private nurse, surnamed Cheng, had illegally detained his mother, preventing them from meeting.
He also accused the pair of instigating his mother to cut ties with him and stealing HK$250,000 (S$45K) in monthly living expenses from her. He is now suing them for HK$8mil (S$1.44mil) in compensation.

However, Richard has denied the tumour claims and urged the public not to be taken in by his father’s lies.
"Dad, please don't collude with others and use me to stir news. He doesn't care about me at all. I contacted him previously, but he refused and didn’t answer the calls for two days, which made me very unhappy and troubled. Everything he has said is a lie. I am unable to see the doctor because he made me lose my health insurance card,” said Richard.
According to reports, the health scare started last year when Richard and his mum, Joey, 57, returned to Hong Kong after Kai Ming was spotted shopping hand-in-hand with another woman.
However, not only did Kai Ming have no remorse, he even chided the mother and son. The emotional distress caused Richard’s neck to swell but when Joey informed Kai Ming of their son’s condition, the latter ignored her.
Richard expressed his hopes to have nothing to do with his father, saying: "I just hope that in future, my mother and I can depend on each other and live a good life. "
Richard and his mum want nothing to do with Kai Ming
Joey has clarified that Richard only has neck pain, which isn’t serious, and that the cancer rumours have greatly affected their lives in Malaysia.
She revealed that Mei Kam had given Kai Ming money to buy an insurance savings plan for Richard, as well as an accident plan last year, however, she was informed that they had been cancelled.
She said that Kai Ming admitted to cancelling the policies and then used the funds to buy another policy for himself, with his Thai girlfriend as the beneficiary.
Despite his ways, Joey has repeatedly forgiven Kai Ming.
However, the straw that broke the camel’s back was when Kai Ming told Joey and Richard to return to Hong Kong to live last year, only to change his mind later.
According to Kai Ming, there was “no place for them to stay” but Joey later found out that he had used the HK$100,000 (S$18K) that Mei Kam had given to him for their relocation to move house with his girlfriend.
