Brother Of HK Actress Esther Kwan Fell To His Death In A Hiking Accident Last Month

Esther, who is the wife of Hongkong actor Nick Cheung, is said to be still very distraught over her brother's sudden and tragic passing.

Hongkong actor Nick Cheung’s wife, Esther Kwan, 57, has been distraught ever since her younger brother died in a hiking accident last month.

According to reports, the former actress' 54-year-old brother suffered serious injuries after he slipped and fell about 30 metres down a hill at Lower Shing Mun Reservoir in Shatin on April 9.

He was rushed to the hospital by emergency helicopter, but eventually succumbed to his injuries.

When Esther learned about the accident, she reportedly rushed to the hospital with her nephew, and was left devastated and inconsolable when her brother died.

Reporters who saw Esther recently say she's still grieving over her brother's death

Yesterday (May 4), Esther was spotted leaving her apartment and heading to a building in Kwun Tong. It is believed to be where her late brother lived.

However, when she saw reporters waiting outside the building, she immediately got her driver to U-turn before driving off.

According to reporters, she appeared thin and wan, and was clearly still very distraught about her brother's sudden passing.

Nick, who left for China shortly after his brother-in-law's death, is reportedly very worried about Esther. Not only does she have to take care of their 16-year-old daughter Brittany, she is also in charge of her brother’s funeral matters.

It's said that Nick has asked their friends to call on Esther frequently. He is also arranging to wrap up work soon and return to Hongkong as quickly as possible.

Hillside where the accident took place

Lower Shing Mun Reservoir has become a popular hiking spot recently.

A day after Esther's brother's accident, a 71-year-old man also suffered head injuries after falling down the side of the hill at the reservoir.

Following the mishaps, the area has since been sealed off and people are now barred from entering.
