Chapman To Mocks Shawn Yue For Writing “Bra” Instead Of “Bro” In Pic With Vanness Wu; Shawn Responds With Dictionary Screengrab

Chapman sure took um-bra-ge at Shawn’s post.

Hongkong actor Shawn Yue recently became the butt of jokes online after posting an innocent wefie with his pal Vanness Wu with the caption “Love you bra”.

Netizens, including the famously outspoken Chapman To, wasted no time in poking fun at his apparent spelling error, which they pointed out should be “bro” instead of a woman’s undergarment.

Guess you could call them, um, bosom buddies

Noting that it’ll be difficult to make a typo since the letters “A” and “O” are so far apart from each other on the keyboard, Chapman said he suspects Shawn, 40, probably thinks “bro” is pronounced “bra” since “brother” is commonly pronounced “bra-da” in Chinese, especially Cantonese.

The 49-year-old then added that if Shawn is “so patriotic, don’t speak English”. The latter previously angered pro-independence Hongkong netizens for paying tribute to the Chinese police and stating that “Hongkong will be returned to China”, while the former is known for his staunch anti-Beijing sentiments.

To mock Shawn even more, Chapman shared a pic of himself with his wife, former TVB actress Kristal Tin, and wrote the exact same caption “Love you bra”, except he meant it literally this time as Kristal was holding up an actual lacy brassiere. Cheeky.

Kinda hilarious, to be honest

Shawn eventually caught wind of the ridicule and stood his ground by taking to Instagram to post a screenshot from a dictionary showing that “bra”, or “brah”, is indeed a legitimate informal term for a male friend.

This isn’t the first time the father-of-two has been roasted for his English.

Back in 2017, Shawn posted a photo of scented candles and wrote “smile good” instead of “smell good”, but at least he managed to prove he wasn’t in the wrong in the latest incident.
