It’s no secret that Chen Hanwei’s really dotes on his parents.

Apart from the many posts dedicated to his folks on his Instagram, the 52-year-old is known for shelling out the big bucks every time he brings his parents on vacation. And we’re talking some serious moolah here — at least $30,000 on every trip, according to the actor himself.

Oh, and they’ve travelled extensively too, visiting countries like Thailand, Japan, Hongkong, China and Vietnam.

But of course, such trips aren’t exactly possible now ‘cos of the pandemic. And to make matters worse, Hanwei, who’s based in Singapore, hasn’t seen his parents for around two years, since they’re based in Johor Bahru.

On October 25, however, Hanwei updated his Instagram with this post, sharing a number of pictures of him and his mother at Gardens by the Bay.

“Haven’t held my mum’s hand in almost two years” he wrote, before going on to share: “After going through obstacle after obstacle, and help from many benefactors, my mum’s finally here in Singapore. Thankful, thankful, thankful for you guys. I just want my mum to be healthy, safe, and live a long life. If you wish for good things, they will all come true. My mum likes flowers, [and since] the tulips are in full bloom, how can we miss out on it.

Hanwei previously shared in an interview with 8days.sg that his dad rarely travels out of Johor Bahru due to his old age.

Therefore, it is usually Hanwei’s mother who will make the trip. Both Hanwei’s parents are in their 80s.

According to Asiaone, it is likely that Hanwei’s mother applied for entry into Singapore via the Familial Ties Lane, a Safe Travel Lane that facilitates entry of immediate family members of Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents into Singapore.
