Chinese actress Shen Mengchen, 32, who was a contestant on the first season of Sisters Who Make Waves, is under fire for selling her second-hand clothes at a much higher price than when they were brand new.

1 of 2 This is why it's important to cross-check prices

Mengchen, who has a verified account on pre-loved goods e-commerce platform Xianyu, often sells her used clothes on the site.

She recently listed a top from a streetwear brand for a 'discounted' price of 900 yuan (S$189), a huge reduction from her original asking price of 2999 yuan (S$628).

However, netizens checked the brand’s online store and saw that it not only retails for 499 yuan (S$104), it is currently on sale at 334 yuan (S$70) as it is from a past collection.

The worst part? She didn’t even offer free shipping for the shirt, and that would incur a further payment of 22 yuan (S$4.60).

Netizens have now called out Mengchen for not being transparent about her prices. Other netizens then stepped forward to remind everyone that Mengchen was once exposed for selling knock-offs.

In 2019, she sold a pre-loved Moncler jacket for 7200 yuan (S$1510) on her page. After receiving the jacket, the buyer messaged Mengchen to ask if it was a fake as she's been told that it wasn't authentic.

Mengchan reportedly replied, “You should go to [Moncler’s] store to check. There aren’t that many fakes around. I didn’t buy [my jacket] through a purchasing agent”.

After the netizen uploaded close-up photos of the jacket she received, Mengchan finally admitted that she had bought the jacket through an agent.

“I wore it during two winters, so like everyone, I have no idea what’s going on!” she said. “I’ll go to the store to check it out if she sends it back to me so that all of us can know the truth. I’m not that unscrupulous to sell fakes on purpose.”
