Cruffin Specialist Mr Holmes Opens 2nd Outlet, Has Sarnie Collab With Two Men Bagel House
Mr Holmes Bakehouse’s newest joint also boasts exclusive new sandwiches like a Spam, Egg & Kimchi Croissant.

Mr Holmes Bakehouse – the San Francisco-born bakery chain that popularised the croissant-muffin hybrid (aka the cruffin) – has just opened its second outlet in the heart of the CBD at MYP Centre, along Battery Road.
Like its 41-seat flagship store at Pacific Plaza on Orchard Road, this 36-seater is a partnership between the American eatery and local lifestyle group Caerus Holdings (the latter also brought Luke’s Lobster and Lady M to Singapore). While we haven’t had a chance to pop by yet, Mr Holmes’ second bakery-cafe serves outlet-exclusive sandwiches and salads to cater to the CBD lunch crowd, including a collaborative bagel sandwich with cult fave Two Men Bagel House, available only until end May.

The look
While the cutesy Orchard Road flagship looks a bit like Barbie’s house, the CBD outlet exudes a rather sophisticated vibe with seats upholstered in leather and a more neutral colour palette.

New bakes for both outlets
As Mr Holmes Bakehouse offers new cruffins and bombolini-style brioche donuts regularly, their two latest bakes are available at both the flagship and second outlet: the Pistachio Cream Cruffin ($6.50), which comes stuffed with housemade pistachio cream, as well as the Rose Lychee doughnut featuring lychee curd scented with rose water.
Sadly, there won’t be any new savoury cruffins. Mr Holmes’ sole non-dessert cruffin remains the super tasty Sun-dried Tomato and Bacon Jam ($7.50) one, pumped with tomato-spiked cream cheese and loads of umami bacon, then glazed with syrupy balsamic vinegar. We say introduce more savoury cruffins!

Outlet-exclusive sarnies
However, there are other non-cruffin new savoury bites at the CBD branch. The four outlet-exclusive sandwiches include the Egg Mayo & Candied Bacon ($10) on a potato bun; Korean-influenced Spam & Egg with Kimchi Croissant ($13); and Chicken Fajita ($13), which sees chicken slices cooked Tex-Mex style with spices, bell peppers and melted cheddar with habanero mayo between ciabatta halves. There’s also a vegan number: Roasted Veggie & Hummus ($10) on sourdough bread.

Collab with Two Men Bagel House: Pig N Fig Bagel, $16
This limited-edition bagel sandwich is courtesy of a collab between Mr Holmes and the hip Two Men Bagel House. The Pig N Fig sarnie stars smoked ham, cream cheese and housemade fig jam on a plain bagel. Available till end May.
This ain’t Mr Holmes Bakehouse’s first collab with a cool foodie brand – they also partnered popular sandwich cafe Park Bench Deli and offered limited-edition sarnies back in January. The PR rep says we can look forward to more of such collabs in future.

Mr Holmes’ limited-ed cruffin at Two Men Bagel House cafes: Banana Cruffin, $10
In return, Two Men Bagel House is also offering a limited-ed cruffin from Mr Holmes at their own cafes in Tanjong Pagar and Novena (also until end May). The flaky pastry has a core of banana-infused cream and white choc, and is topped with passion fruit puree.
