Deng Lun Reportedly Asked To Pay S$42M In Compensation To Brands Amid Tax Evasion Scandal
His only source of income now is apparently revenue from his hot pot restaurant.
Ever since Chinese actor Deng Lun was caught for evading 47.6mil yuan (S$10.1mil) in taxes earlier this month, the 29-year-old has seen his career go down in flames.
Despite his apology, Deng Lun was cancelled, and brands he endorsed swiftly severed ties with him.
Now the advertisers are reportedly demanding compensation from the star.
One brand not only asked Deng Lun to return his 12mil yuan (S$2.55mil) endorsement fee, but also pay 4.8mil yuan (S$1.02mil) for breach of contract and 537K yuan (S$110K) for other damages such as legal costs.
According to netizens, other brands are also seeking compensation to the tune of 200mil yuan (S$42.6mil).

They also noted that since the scandal broke, Deng Lun has reportedly transferred the companies under his name to his family, and now with jobs offers gone and advertisers distancing from him, his only source of revenue is from his hot pot restaurant.
