When you think of the biggest Asian boybands, one of the first to come to mind would probably be F4, the Taiwanese boy group from 2001 idol drama Meteor Garden. 

22 years later, we now have our very own G4, all thanks to the internet.

G4 is made up of our 4G leaders Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, 50, Minister for Health Ong Ye Kung, 53, Speaker of Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin, 54, and Education Minister Chan Chun Sing, 53. 

And the group made their debut on Tan Chuan-Jin's Instagram yesterday (May 9).

Amidst all his SEA Games-related posts, Mr Tan decided to post a parody video he saw online. 

In the clip, the faces of our 4G leaders were edited onto the bodies of the F4 members in their iconic 'Meteor Rain' music video.

Mr Tan clearly found it hilarious... ish. 

He wrote: "Err…on a totally different note literally… G4? Don’t know whether to laugh or cry, or (puke emoji) or... sing? Don't know who created it..."

He also added a series of hashtags such as "Cannot Unsee", "Remember Us EVERYTIME You Listen to F4", "Fake News" and "Laugh Die Me".

"Some ask [if this is] AI? I think it's more like Aiyo," he quipped.

In case you're wondering, according to their placement in the video, Tan Chuan-Jin is Ken Chu, Lawrence Wong is Jerry Yan, Chan Chun Sing is Vic Chou and Ong Ye Kung is Vanness Wu. 

Apparently local actress Michelle Chong sees a resemblance between the ministers and F4.

"I must say you actually look the part!" commented Michelle. 

Many netizens also asked if the 4G leaders would perform 'Meteor Rain' on this year's National Day.

"Can we have this for the coming NDP? Say yes, please," asked one netizen, while another quipped: "This is not F4... this is Alt-F4."
