The Cheesecake Factory’s Original Cheesecake Now Sold In S’pore Supermarkets

American dessert chain The Cheesecake Factory is famous for its calorific cheesecakes, which are served at over 200 of its restaurants around the world. There’s no official TCF eatery in Singapore, but local takeaway shop Beverly Hills Cheesecake caused a mini stir in July this year, when it opened at Raffles City Shopping Centre’s basement selling TCF’s cheesecakes here for the first time. The cakes are pre-made at The Cheesecake Factory’s, er, factory in the US, frozen and air-flown to Singapore.

1 of 3 Some background story

Although Beverly Hills Cheesecake offers TCF’s cakes, it does not operate under the famed brand’s name here as it only owns the master distribution rights to sell the desserts in Singapore and Hong Kong. Its director, Raja Selarka, 49, earlier shared with 8days.sg that he planned to eventually supply local major supermarkets like NTUC FairPrice with TCF’s desserts, under the brand’s takeaway line called The Cheesecake Factory at Home. The line is specifically mass-produced for customers to buy from supermarkets and enjoy at home.

2 of 3 It’s here

Good news, FairPrice supermarket has started stocking boxes of The Cheesecake Factory’s seven-inch Original Cheesecake in its chilled desserts section, which we first spotted at its Clementi Mall outlet. A PR rep for the supermarket chain tells us that the cake is “available at all FairPrice Finest stores and [NTUC’s wholesale outlet] Warehouse Club” while stocks last. Master distributor Raja Selarka tells us that the cheesecake will also be sold at selected Cold Storage and Giant outlets, as well as local supermarket chain Hao Mart.

There are eight pre-sliced servings in a box, which is going at a promotional price of $32.50 (usual price $39.50). It’s much more affordable than the similar, though bigger, 10-inch whole Classic Cheesecake sold at Beverly Hills Cheesecake. The stark price difference is because of size and weight: the seven-inch cake weighs 964g, while the 10-inch cake that Beverly Hills Cheesecake offers is 2.2kg.

  • 3 of 3 What you get

According to The Cheesecake Factory at Home’s website, the cheesecake is “a smaller version of the legendary cheesecake served in our restaurant”, which has cream cheese topped with a thin layer of sour cream, plus a graham cracker crust. It comes plain, and you are encouraged to jazz up your cheesecake with whipped cream and fresh strawberries. Nice.
