Don Don Donki Opening 9th Outlet At HarbourFront
Finally, the Japanese discount chain opens in the south.
When Japanese discount chain Don Don Donki opened its first Singapore outlet in 2017, it also announced an ambitious plan to set up 10 branches here by 2020. Well, it now has eight stores (the latest being its largest, at Jem in Jurong), and is on its way to opening its ninth shop.
A reliable source confirms with 8days.sg that the ninth outlet will be at Harbourfront Centre, next to VivoCity mall. The source adds that the new store will be open “soon”, though details are still in the works for now. Exciting.
While the chain has outlets in the western and central parts of Singapore so far, the upcoming Harbourfront Centre outpost is its first in the south. (Does this mean its 10th full-fledged outlet will be in the North or the East, not counting the takeaway Sweet Potato Factory kiosk at Changi Airport's T3 departure hall? Hmm.)

A concierge for Harbourfront Centre helpfully tells us that the Don Don Donki outlet is currently under renovation, but it occupies a third floor unit that used to house a True Fitness gym. It’s also on the way “towards the cruise centre” in the mall. A very shrewd business decision, we think; ferry passengers heading to Indonesia via the cruise centre (and people going to Sentosa) will surely be loading up on cheerful Japanese snacks at the store.
