Five Guys Opening Second Outlet At Nex in Serangoon
The famed US burger chain is coming to the heartlands.
After opening its first Singapore outlet at Plaza Singapura in December 2019, fast-casual US burger chain Five Guys is setting up its next branch in the heartlands — at Nex mall in Serangoon. According to a press release by the Zouk Group, which brought Five Guys to our shores, the upcoming outlet is slated to open in “early 2021”.
Other than dine-in and takeaway service, the eatery will also offer delivery (which the Plaza Singapura outlet also currently does). Five Guys is well-known for its hearty, messy burgers made with hand-formed fresh ground beef patties and up to 13 types of toppings like grilled mushrooms, tomatoes, lettuce and pickles (the chain famously boasted that the ingredients it uses are so fresh, it does not have any freezers, microwave ovens or timers in its restaurants).
The burgers are paired with hand-cut potato fries, which are fried in pure peanut oil and served in an original salted or spicy Cajun style. And there’s the milkshakes, where you can add up to 11 toppings like malted milk, cherry and peanut butter, with an optional smattering of savoury bacon bits.
Five Guys will also open its first Malaysian outlet at Genting Highlands. The Zouk Group’s CEO, Andrew Li (right, pictured here with Danny Lee, Five Guys’ Hong Kong-based vice president of APAC operations), is optimistic about weathering the Covid-19 storm. He says, “Even though 2020 has been a challenging year, especially for the F&B industry, we are very grateful for the support that Singaporeans have shown us over the past few months. We want to bring Five Guys even closer to Singaporeans, and the outlet at Nex will allow us to bring the cult-favourite burger to the heartland.”
