Grand Hyatt Offers $10 Takeaway Meals — Laksa, Biryani & Burgers Included

It’s been a long time since we’ve ventured to the Grand Hyatt Singapore. Well, it’s not like we can now hang out with a glass of wine and nibbles at its cosy lounge 10 Scotts (one of our go-to watering holes in Orchard pre-Covid-19). It didn’t help that the hotel was also the site of one of the earliest clusters when the pandemic first hit Singapore months ago. Things have calmed down since, but biz, as with at all other hotels this period, has been quiet. And we're guessing that’s why there’s an incredible offer now at the five-star hotel: $10 nett meal boxes. Yep, nett — no GST or service charge. The makan boxes, mostly Asian one-dish meals and a few Western ones, are prepared by a “combination of chefs from our [various] restaurants and banquet team,” says Hyatt’s PR rep. Here are several highlights from the 17 options available.

1 of 10 Crispy Chicken With Organic Fried Rice And Achar

Crunchy fried chicken plus fried rice sautéed with cage-free eggs, organic jasmine rice and vegetables. Served with achar and calamansi lime for a zesty kick.

2 of 10 Sambal Fish Fillet With Steamed Organic Rice

Pan-seared sustainable fish (looks like seabass here) draped with sambal sauce. Paired with veggies like cauliflower and white rice.

3 of 10 Solanki's Butter Chicken With Organic Vegetable Biryani

The recipe for this creamy chicken was created by chef Solanki of mezza9 restaurant and has been served at the Grand Hyatt for years, hence the dish’s moniker. It’s cooked with yogurt and cashew nut paste, then served with mango chutney. Also halal.

4 of 10 Grilled Australian Grass-Fed 220gm Beef Cheese Burger With Pickles & Fries

A rather generously portioned 220g patty burger dressed with wholegrain mustard mayonnaise and ketchup on brioche buns. Comes with fries.

Atas laksa cooked with “quality-driven and sustainable ingredients”.

    Lamb curry using Aussie mottainai lamb. Paired with hearty veggie biryani. Halal-certified.

  • 7 of 10 Slow Braised Australian Grass-Fed Beef Rendang With Steamed Organic Rice

    Another halal dish, this time starring grass-fed beef rendang cooked with ingredients like turmeric, gula melaka and coconut milk.

  • 8 of 10 Vegan Mapo Tofu With Steamed Organic Brown Rice And Asian Greens

    This spicy tofu number cooked with leeks and Sichuan pepper is for all the vegetarians and vegans out there. The veggies are organic and sourced from the farm Weeds & More, located at Cameron Highlands.

  • 9 of 10 Merlot, $20 per bottle

    Aside from $10 dishes, Grand Hyatt is also offering good-value $20 bottles of house wine. Like this Bulletin Place Merlot from South Eastern Australia. Prefer white wine? Chardonnay by the same brand is also available for the same price.
