Halal Gelato Supplier To MBS & Capella Opening ‘Tropical-Themed’ Cafe
It makes gelato, cakes and popsicles in over 50 flavours.
A new cafe is coming to Haji Lane offering halal gourmet gelato, popsicles and gelato cakes. It’s opened by homegrown brand Momolato, which was founded in 2014 by ex-investment banker Sharon Tay.
She trained to make gelato at Carpigiani Gelato University in Bologna, Italy (yes there’s higher education for gelato-making there) before setting up a kiosk at SMU in 2014. She closed her kiosk in 2016 to focus on being a B2B supplier, and has since been supplying gelato to hotels like Marina Bay Sands and Capella Singapore.
The upcoming Momolato cafe is still under renovation, and is slated to open by the third week of March 2021. It’s located at a shophouse unit along Haji Lane, and will have a tropical theme to suit our sunny weather.

The cafe will offer 18 halal-certified keto, vegan and sugar-free gelato flavours, plus a selection of popsicles, gelato cakes and “artisanal” desserts.
