McDonald's Choco Banana Pie Taste Test: Nice Or Not?
We try it and find out.
We have come a long way since McDonald’s old-school apple pie — to keep up with the times, the fast food chain has been updating their classic dessert with new, fun flavours like White Choc Strawberry Cream, Molten Chocolate, Peach and even a savoury Creamy Herb Chicken pie. They are mostly hits, but we believe we have stumbled upon McDonald’s best pie yet: Choco Banana Pie (from $1.50 each).

The latest pie in McDonald’s repertoire consists of molten dark chocolate mingling with a mashed banana filling in a crispy pastry shell. It already sounds like a winner; bananas and chocolate go together like hotdogs and buns. But the cynic in us has some reservations about things possibly going very wrong, like failing a crucial class in the final school semester.

Luckily, the pie doesn’t disappoint. In fact, it’s super nice. Our warm pie, housed in a stiff paper pocket, crackles as we sink our teeth into the crispy pastry shell. The black and brown filling starts oozing out; mildly sweet, goreng pisang-esque ripe mushy bananas on one side and decadent, gooey chocolate (the same as McDonald’s Molten Chocolate Pie) on the other.
Before we know it, we had finished the whole petite pie, feeling slightly like a minion from Despicable Me with its banana obsession. Like all of McDonald’s seasonal launches, this pie is limited-edition, so gorge on it while you can.
Available at all at all McDonald’s outlets, Dessert Kiosks and via GrabFood and McDelivery.
