Shake Shack Opens Insta-Worthy Great World City Outlet With Limited-Edition Jalapeño Ranch Menu
The jalapeño menu will be available only till June 15, 2021.
American fine-casual burger chain Shake Shack is opening a new outlet at Great World (formerly known as Great World City) on April 28. The sprawling 102-seat branch is its sixth in Singapore. Shake Shack first opened at Jewel Changi Airport in 2019, and rapidly expanded to locations including Orchard Road and Suntec City.
The Great World City outlet is located near a mall entrance, and boasts many Insta-worthy nooks. If you’re dining in at the restaurant, you can also scan a QR code to access Shake Shack’s AR Instagram filter, which lets you record Insta-stories against cartoon backdrops of the Shack’s burgers and iconic Singaporean landmarks.
Other than the usual Shake Shack menu that includes ShackBurgers, crinkle-cut fries, milkshakes and Concrete ice cream, the new outlet will also serve two exclusive new Concrete flavours and a limited-edition Jalapeño Ranch Menu. The latter will be launched concurrently at all Shake Shack outlets on Apr 28.
Check out the space and food below:
The best seats in the house are at these cosy booths with navy blue banquettes and bamboo detailing.
Compared to the original Jewel outlet, which we find rather cramped, the Great World City outlet is comfortably spacious and allows for better safe distancing.
Every Shake Shack outlet features an artist-painted mural, and the GWC branch has one by Singapore-based artist Tobyato.
The food
The Jalapeño Ranch limited-time range includes crinkle-cut fries topped with a ranch sauce made with parmesan, black pepper and fresh jalapeños, plus a beef ShackBurger and chicken Chick’n ShackBurger loaded with the same ranch sauce and sliced jalapeños. The chilli pepper gives our ShackBurger a gentle, appetite-whetting piquance, but it’s not at all spicy (which is a good or bad thing, depending on how spicy you like your food).
The Chick’n Shack burger, first launched at Shake Shack’s second outlet at Neil Road, has its fried chicken breast and veggies perked up with some jalapeños, though we find that the chilli peppers go better with the beef burger.
Remember KFC’s popular cheese fries? Shake Shack’s Jalapeño Ranch offering is kinda like a punchier, much more gourmet version of it, minus the artificial cheese. The ridges in the crinkle-cut fries cradle lots of tangy ranch sauce, chopped spring onions and crispy bacon bits. Much nicer than even Shake Shack’s regular cheese fries.
In a nod to Great World City’s amusement park roots, the exclusive Concrete flavour is named Berry Ferris Swell, which has vanilla custard blended with raspberries, topped with cheesecake chunks. Pretty refreshing, but we find it a tad too sweet. We prefer the other new flavour, the Poppin’ Good Time (see below).
This Concrete flavour is sprinkled with chocolate-covered pop rocks, which fizzle in our mouth along with the cool, creamy custard ice cream. Fun and yummy. It also comes with fudge brownie chunks by local bakery Plain Vanilla, salted caramel sauce and gold sprinkles.
Shake Shack Great World City opens from 12pm on April 28 at #01-101 Great World, 1 Kim Seng Promenade, S237994. Open daily 11am-10pm. www.shakeshack.com.sg.
