Ex Mediacorp Actress Sora Ma, 37, Registered For Marriage With Her Businessman Fiancé Today
And she had on a really unconventional and cool wedding outfit.
Ex Mediacorp actress Sora Ma announced on her Instagram earlier today (Oct 15) that she has registered her marriage with her businessman fiancé.
For the past few days, the 37-year-old has been dropping hints about her upcoming nuptials.
On October 8, she shared a post lamenting that she was super busy with wedding prep, and then on October 13, she shared a picture of her outfit — a white blazer and a straw hat with a wedding veil knotted around it — with the caption “All set”.
Earlier this year, when Sora revealed that she was engaged, she shared that she was “thinking of registering [their] marriage this year”.
Sora’s husband is a Singaporean businessman in his 40s, and they’ve been dating for almost nine years.
In her post announcing that she’d registered her marriage, Sora mused that she felt very calm, and that the entire day was “not rushed or hurried”.
“I never realised that tying the knot is such a comforting and happy affair,” she wrote.
Celeb friends like Terence Cao, Chen Xiuhuan and Lawrence Wong also left comments congratulating Sora on her big day.
The actress also recounted the happenings of the entire day in her lengthy poem-style caption, which we’ve translated in English below:
“We registered [our marriage]!
With our family as witness
The certificate we obtained at the notary office
My husband was very nervous (even though he looked very calm)
Yet, I was very calm (Am I too unusual, or is his [reaction] very normal?
The solemniser Mdm Low was very good at calming everyone
The entire process was completed amidst laughs
My husband’s family are very traditional Teochew people
But ‘cos of these special circumstances, [we] went without many traditions
And also ‘cos of the help from my sister-in-law and her husband, as well as friends
My husband and I were able to, after dressing up and getting made up,
Have some free time
The two of us sat at a restaurant to eat and drink coffee
Holding hands and smiling at each other, saying
“We're finally getting married!”
Not rushed or hurried, not frantic or impatient
Today’s ceremony was completed warmly and happily
In the future, every day will be a good day
(Believe that a good beginning will give rise to a good ending!)
She continued:
For my side, I had friends who are just like family to me, as witness
They’ve seen me through this very long relationship
And seen me change from having short hair to long, and from long to short
And then from short to long again
Seen my husband go from thin to fat, and from fat to even fatter
Before slowly slimming down
Yes, this did not feel remotely smooth-sailing
But ‘cos both parties were determined to go through this together
My husband and I used love to move each other, and change each other
After the ceremony,
The two of us went to a small venue beside the registry
To take some pictures with loved ones
My male bestie brought along a photographer friend
Snap snap, to record down many beautiful scenes
After that,
We went back to my husband’s home to pray to the ancestors and for the tea ceremony
Everything was prepared by my sister-in-law and her husband, as well as friends
Everything was very good
My mother-in-law was so touched, she choked up with tears
I never realised that tying the knot is such a comforting and happy affair
I thought that it’ll be very hectic, with nothing to take in or feel
But registering our marriage during the pandemic,
Though simple, I was sincerely moved
And finally, she wrote:
Once I went public with my engagement
No matter where I went
There would be people congratulating me
I’ve also continuously received many blessings and gifts from many close friends
This city, although small, has given me a boundless sense of closeness
My profession and identity has also allowed me to make many close friends
My husband gave me a home
In the days to come
Mutual respect, mutual support, mutual encouragement
To become a couple and partners that grow together
Heartfelt gratitude”
