Ex Mediacorp Star Jeff Wang Changes Chinese Name From Wang Jianfu To Wang Zhenfu

The actor says his new name was chosen by his mum.

Earlier today (Dec 7), ex Mediacorp star Jeff Wang, 45, revealed on Instagram that he has officially changed his Chinese name.

The Taiwanese actor, who got his start in local showbiz after winning Star Search in 1999, left Mediacorp in 2010 to further his career in Taiwan.

He has appeared in a host of Taiwanese productions, most notably Taiwanese drama, Girl’s Power and has seen his popularity rise there. The actor, who also has his own bubble tea franchise, recently landed a role in upcoming Taiwanese drama, Life Is Beautiful. The drama is scheduled to air next year.

In his Instagram post, which featured a photo of Jeff holding his identity card, Jeff revealed that he will now go by Wang Zhenfu (王振复). The actor’s Chinese name used to be Wang Jianfu (王建复).

“Hello everyone, I’m a new student, Wang Zhenfu, please guide me well,” he wrote.

According to Jeff, his new Chinese name was chosen by his mum. The actor hopes that this new moniker will be able to bring about "new changes" and "motivation".

    Apart from announcing the news on his Instagram, Jeff also made sure to change the name of his official fan club to reflect his new name.

    “No matter what your name is, I’ll still support you as usual. I’ll always be your ardent fan,” one netizen commented.
