Gillian Chung Says Having To Part Ways With Her Ex In-Laws Made Her “Cry The Most” During Her Divorce
The 40-year-old star got along really well with her former in-laws.
It’s been over a year and six months since Gillian Chung and Taiwanese-American cosmetologist Michael Lai, 32, got a divorce, and the 40-year-old Hongkong star is now ready to talk about the split.
Gillian, who accepted Michael's proposal after dating for just a month, said on Chinese talk show A Date With Luyu that she has “no regrets” getting married despite their not-so-happy ending.
She also revealed that her ex-husband's family was a huge factor in her saying yes to Michael. “The reason I chose to get married is because I like his family very much (…) His parents are well educated and are both educators. They’re a very happy family.”
Gillian also admitted when it came to the divorce, she “cried the most” about having to part ways with Michael’s parents.

The star added that she is not seeing anyone at the moment and wants to give herself a break from romantic relationships.
“I’m not in a rush to get into a new relationship,” Gillian laughed. “I’m enjoying my life as it is, and I don’t see the need to find someone who will lose his temper with me or argue with me.”
While finding a special someone is not her priority, she does want to have children. “I think that my genes are pretty good,” she quipped. “I’ll be willing to have children if [my future partner’s] family is as harmonious as [my ex-husband’s].”
