It's official: Taiwanese doctor Michael Lai, who split up with ex-wife Hongkong pop star Gillian Chung in 2020, has tied the knot for the third time in six years. He is also going to be a dad soon.

According to Michael, 32, his wife Alice, 30, used to be an air stewardess with Emirates Airlines but she left that job “a long time ago”. She’s now in IT and is working at a “listed tech company”.

Michael, who said that he would never marry again after his divorce from Gillian, shared with Taiwan Apple Daily that he changed his mind about marriage because Alice made him believe in love again.

Alice also praised Michael for having a “great personality”, adding that he “never argues” with her.

Describing his wife as a “long-haired, tall beauty who looks like [Taiwanese actress] Amber An”, Michael also said that Alice has a “simple” personality.

“I asked her to pick her ring at Cartier when I proposed and she chose a cheaper one because she felt that simple designs looked better and didn’t want to waste money," he added.

Alice is now three months pregnant and is expected to give birth in August.

Michael said that he is “excited and nervous” about welcoming his first child and that he “really wanted” to share the good news with everyone as he will finally become a dad after two failed marriages.

He will also spend the rest of the year in Taiwan and set aside his business in China so that he can spend more time with his missus.

Michael tied the knot with former China Airlines flight attendant Ivy Chao in 2016 but that marriage lasted six months.

In 2018, Michael married Gillian after dating for two months. The marriage was over 14 months later, and last May, he spoke to the media about how he still “wasn’t quite over”.
