Hawick Lau Reportedly Owns S$34.5mil Worth Of Property In Hongkong

No wonder the 47-year-old could take his time to go back to work following his 2018 divorce from Yang Mi.

Back in 2020, Hongkong veteran actor Lau Dan, 78, talked about how his son Hawick Lau had pretty much turned into a stay-home dad following his 2018 divorce from Yang Mi.

The former couple tied the knot in 2014 and have a seven-year-old daughter nicknamed Little Glutinous Rice.

Almost two years later, HK news outlets are saying that Hawick, 47, was never in a rush to go back to work because he’s pretty much rolling in cash: HK$200mil (S$34.5mil) worth of property in Hongkong, to be exact.

After making his showbiz debut in 1995 with hit TVB drama A Kindred Spirit, Hawick used the bulk of his income to invest in properties. He’s hailed as a shrewd real estate investor who owns commercial lots and homes all around the city.

Hawick returned to Hongkong just before Chinese New Year, and will be spending three months with his daughter before returning to the mainland for work.

Lau Dan, who has always been more than happy to talk about his son, shared with the media that Hawick will continue rejecting job offers as “he’s pushing money away” for the sake of Little Glutinous Rice.

However, Lau Dan remains tight-lipped about his former daughter-in-law, and responded with a curt “I don’t know” when he was asked if Yang Mi had visited her daughter recently.
