HK Actor Kwong Wa’s Daughter Cried On Her First Day Of School After Hearing Someone Ask Why A Celeb’s Daughter Was “So Ugly”
Her dad was rendered speechless after he knew what happened.
As the daughter of Hong Kong celeb couple Kwong Wa, 60, and Connie Mak, 67, Hong Kong singer Tinque Chan, 27, (Kwong Wa’s birth name is Chan Muk Wah) has always had big shoes to fill. After all, both her parents are stalwarts in showbiz.
However, having famous parents isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. In a recent interview, Tinque shared an incident that hurt her deeply when she was a child.

She revealed that she used to hear comments from others criticising her looks.
“[Someone asked:] ‘Why is Kwong Wa’s daughter so ugly?’ And I heard that. I was in primary school, it was my first day of school, and I cried. I told my dad that I was very sad and that I wanted to transfer schools, and my dad didn’t know what to say to reassure me after hearing that,” Tinque said.
She's stronger than that.
She went on to share that apart from being put under heavy scrutiny for her looks, she also puts a lot of pressure on herself to not sully the reputation of her parents.
“Sometimes, I’ll [put pressure] on myself to become even better. There was a period of time when I would think about how to become a child that was worthy of them,” she said.
Thankfully, while these struggles were present in her formative years, it no longer affects her.
“I’m stronger now, I’m not someone whom you can destroy [with your words],” she declared.

Apart from Tinque, Kwong Wa and Connie have a son together Bryan Chan, 29. Bryan, who’s working as a nurse now, previously made headlines for volunteering to care for patients suffering from Covid during the height of the pandemic.
