After a period of silence, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha star Kim Seon Ho, 35, has finally addressed the allegations that he is the mysterious “Actor K” who coerced his ex-girlfriend into aborting their child.
In an anonymous forum post that was shared on Sunday (Oct 17), the author claimed that she dated Actor K from early 2020 until about four months ago.
When she became pregnant, Actor K used his “superb acting skills” to convince her to get an abortion and even promised to marry her in two years, but he ended up dumping her over the phone without so much as an apology.
On Wednesday morning (Oct 20), Korean media outlets received a statement from Seon Ho, who basically admitted that he is indeed Actor K.
“I sincerely apologise for such a belated statement,” he said. “Not long ago, I saw my name appear on the news and it was the first time I experienced such fear, which is why I’m only writing this now.”
He continued: “I was dating that person with good feelings. During the process, my carelessness and inconsiderate behaviour brought her a lot of pain. Although I wish to apologise to her directly first, there is no way for me to convey my apologies to her right now and I am waiting for that time to come.”
“First of all, I want to sincerely apologise to her through this statement. I’m also sorry for disappointing everyone who has always believed in me. I’m only able to stand here as actor Kim Seon Ho ‘cos of those who supported me, but I had forgotten that. I deeply apologise to everyone who has worked with me for the trouble I caused due to my shortcomings.”
“Once again, I apologise to everyone who has been hurt. I understand that this rambling statement is insufficient, but I still wish to express my sincerity. I am truly sorry.”
Seon Ho’s management agency SALT Entertainment later also released their own statement apologising for the concern, trouble, and disappointment that this incident caused.
Seon Ho has since been confirmed to be leaving popular variety show 2 Days & 1 Night in light of the controversy. The programme added that they will be editing him out of existing footage to “reduce viewers’ discomfort”.
More brands that he endorsed have also been taking down ads and images related to him from their official channels, and there are reportedly talks to replace Seon Ho in several upcoming films.
