Late Taiwanese star Alien Huang, who died from cardiovascular complications at the age of 36 last year, has been posthumously nominated at this year’s Golden Bell Awards along with his Mr. Player co-hosts Jacky Wu, 58 and KID, 37.
The trio are jointly nominated for the Best Host for a Reality or Game Show award for their work on Mr. Player. Last year, Jacky and KID won the award without Alien, who wasn't considered as one of the show's main hosts at that time.
Jacky and KID heard the good news while they were filming Mr. Player, and they both burst into tears after learning that Alien had also been nominated.
The anxiousness I feel is something not everyone can understand (…) This year, our wish is to bring Alien with us on stage to receive our award,” said Jacky during a live stream shortly after learning about the nom.
“I’m feeling a bit more selfish this year [because] Alien is nominated too. We once said that we would help him soar [in his career], but we didn’t expect that he would fly beyond our reach. But that’s okay. We’ll see each other on stage,” Jacky added.
KID also chimed in saying: “I’m really nervous and I care a lot [about the results] this year because it's the last time Alien will be nominated at the Golden Bell Awards.”
The results for the Best Host for a Reality or Game Show will be revealed on October 2.
