Taiwanese host Jacky Wu’s second daughter, Vivian, 28, finally tied the knot with her 29-year-old beau Wilson Chiang aka the nephew of Kuomintang politician Eric Chu, in a low-key wedding yesterday (Sep 12). Their nuptials had to be postponed a few times because of the pandemic.

Even though Jacky, 58, is one of the Taiwan's most famous and well-connected hosts, his daughter's wedding was not a star-studded affair, mostly because the couple are not in showbiz themselves.

In the end, some 80 of the couple's closest friends and family were part of the festivities, which included a solemnisation ceremony in the afternoon and the wedding banquet at night.

Nevetheless, there was still a media scrum that gathered in the lobby of the Taipei hotel where the wedding was held.

Jacky and his eldest daughter Sandy, who is also a host, met with reporters outside the wedding venue to answer questions.

As Vivian is the first of Jacky’s four kids to get married, reporters asked if he got emotional during the ceremony.

We should be very happy that she has a happy home. Her husband loves her very much, said Jacky, who according to reports, took to the stage to perform a self-penned song for Vivian during the banquet. P/S: The song, which is about his relationship with this daughter, took 20 years to complete.

Jacky also revealed that he is not used to his son-in-law calling him dad. “Just call me Xian ge, ‘cos I’m still young. I look younger than the groom, so I’m really happy!” he joked.

According to Jacky, the couple had planned to have an island wedding, but their plans were thwarted as they could not travel overseas due to pandemic.

Even their wedding in Taipei had to be postponed a few times.

Vivian and Wilson eventually settled for a sky garden wedding, but because of Typhoon Chanthu that's storming over Taiwan now, they had to move it indoors.

Jacky also shared that when he was walking Vivian down the aisle, her gown got caught in the door.

The heavens just don’t want to let [her] get married! he joked.

Apart from Sandy and Vivian, Jacky has two other kids, Olivia, 25 and Rick, 22, who is also in showbiz.
