Jerry Yan, 46, Apologises For Publicity Stunt That Had Netizens Thinking He’s A Dad

What did he think people were going to think when he wrote "My child is coming"?

Yesterday (Feb 8),  Taiwanese heartthrob Jerry Yan dropped a bomb on everyone when he wrote on Weibo: "My child is coming".

Many netizens naturally assumed that the 46-year-old Meteor Garden star is getting married or having a kid. You know, just like how Hu Ge and Song Joong Ki recently revealed that they have kids and are married. [Ed: No, not to each other, of course]

Sadly, no such good news from Jerry who was just promoting his new drama The Forbidden Flower.

Needless to say, people were unhappy with Jerry, accusing him of being an attention seeker.

"He's trying to create hype for [his] new drama, but this is such an off-putting way to do it," berated one netizen, while another said: "Wanted to congratulate you but it turned out to be a publicity stunt. That's annoying."

Some also accused Jerry for riding on the recent wave of celebrities announcing that they're married

Jerry added a music video to his post

In response to the controversy, Jerry re-posted the message four hours later, this time with a link to the music video of the drama's theme song.

He then wrote in the comments (see below): "Our staff told me that the way I posted wasn't appropriate and asked me to include the link to the MV. Sorry."

It was later explained that "My child is coming" is a line from the drama, which is why the actor used those words.
