Jewel Changi Airport Is Now A Mini Disney Haven With Mickey Light Shows & Cool Photo Spots

There’s also free entry to Canopy Park — but there’s a catch.

If you’re the type who thinks the perfect holiday comprises a visit to Disneyland, then you may want to head east. The east of Singapore, that is, where Mickey and friends have taken over Jewel Changi Airport in a slew of Disney100 activities, including a special light and sound show and cool photo spots inspired by Disney films.

The one that will be flooding your Instagram and TikTok feeds will probably be the Disney100 Light and Sound show at the HSBC Rain Vortex which will get a few guest appearances from Disney characters.

It happens at 7.30pm every day, but on launch weekend from Jan 12 to 15, you’ll want to get there early. There will be a special performance and appearances by Disney characters before the six-minute Disney100 Light & Sound Show dazzles visitors, who can immerse in maximum Disney vibes with a medley of tunes including ‘A Whole New World’ and ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’ accompanying the visual spectacle.

After launch weekend, a shorter version of the Disney100 Light & Sound show will run from Jan 16 to Apr 9.

For more cute snaps, schlep over to the 10 interactive photo spots around the Shiseido Forest Valley and Canopy Park from Jan 12 to Apr 9. These are inspired by scenes from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars movies and shows, including Lion King, Toy Story and Inside Out.

Perhaps the most Insta-worthy ones are a Disney archway and a four-metre-tall Mickey Mouse platinum statue at the Shiseido Forest Valley, though the meet-and-greet sessions, held from Jan 13 to 15 at various times at the North Entrance, will probably delight the young and the young at heart too.

Fancy free entry to Canopy Park (a ticket usually costs $8)? From Jan 13 to 15, guests who are dressed in outfits inspired by Disney characters will get free admission, so get creative.

There’s no gift shop here like you’d expect at, say, Disneyland. Instead, the Disney retail therapy is spread out across Jewel, where there are 15 stores selling Disney-themed merch, including Charles & Keith and Pandora. There’s also a Disney-themed Year of the Rabbit Tsum Tsum pop-up at Basement 1 where you can shop for cute mementos.
