Chinese comedian and director Jia Ling, who made headlines for losing 50kg in six months to play a boxer in her film YOLO last year, appears to have put some of the weight back on.

The 42-year-old was seen at a Lululemon event earlier this month.

In unedited photos shared by netizens, Jia Ling, who was in a white top and grey pants, looked fresh and in good spirits.

Netizens pointed out that compared to how she looked in the movie, her face was now rounder, particularly her cheeks, and her jawline less obvious. Her body also did not seem as toned as before.

One netizen also claimed that Jia Ling had shyly told fans, who were happily snapping photos of her, to "help Photoshop" her picture.

Some speculated that Jia Ling has gained back at least 20kg, and that it is inevitable if she doesn’t keep to her weight loss regimen.

The actress, who weighed 105kg when she started shooting the movie on Jan 4 2022, underwent a strict strength training regimen and diet plan, to shed 50kg.

Many are supportive of Jia Ling's weight gain, saying she looks "healthier" and more endearing with a bit of extra weight.

"Jia Ling looked really exhausted when first made a public appearance after losing weight," said one netizen, while another said: "Now Jia Ling finally looks normal again."
