JJ Lin Attends Mentor Eric Lin’s Funeral In Taipei

The singer shared in a statement that he will “continue to move forward in life while carrying [Eric’s] dedication to music” with him.

On January 3, JJ Lin, 41, was seen attending the funeral of Taiwanese lyricist and former chairman of music label Ocean Butterflies Eric Lin in Taipei.

He passed away at the age of 62 on Dec 11, and was reported to be suffering from liver cirrhosis prior to his passing.

Eric is largely credited for discovering JJ as well as fellow local singer A-Do, 49.

JJ, who was dressed in all black with a cap and sunglasses on, did not say anything to the media gathered outside the funeral. The star swiftly signed his name at the entrance, before making his way inside.

Reporters spotted a flower wreath that JJ had sent to the venue, which came with the message: “To my musical hero”.

JJ had used the same words to describe Eric in his Instagram tribute on December 12.

In a statement that JJ released through his agency, JFJ Productions, the singer went on to express his sorrow at Eric’s passing.

“Thank you Teacher Lin for constantly giving me encouragement and affirmation when I was at a stage where I had no confidence in myself. I will miss Teacher a lot, and I’ll continue to move forward in life while carrying his dedication to music with me!” the statement read.

Apart from JJ, other celebs like Taiwanese singers Yvonne Cheng (郑怡), 61, and Steve Chow (周传雄), 62, were also seen at the funeral.

Eric was a prolific songwriter and his hit songs include A-Mei’s 'Listen To The Sea’, Andy Lau’s ‘Thank You For Your Love’, A-Do’s ‘Leave’, as well as JJ’s ‘Cao Cao’.
