Jocie Guo Addresses Those Rumours That She’s Appearing In Sisters Who Make Waves 3
Will we finally have a Singaporean representative on the show?
Remember when the list of rumoured contestants for the third season of the wildly popular Chinese reality survival show, Sisters Who Make Waves, was ‘leaked’ on Weibo?
The show, which sees female celebs over 30 competing to be in a girl group, aired its first season in 2020, and is now amping up for its highly-anticipated third season.
And amongst the many names posted online, one in particular stood out for us — Singaporean singer Jocie Guo Meimei. The 39-year-old shot to fame in the noughties for her viral songs 'No More Panic' (or 'Bu Pa Bu Pa') and 'Mice Love Rice' (or 'Lao Shu Ai Da Mi’).
Other celebs who were named include Gillian Chung, Charlene Choi, and Cyndi Wang.

Keep calm and perhaps we might just see her on the show soon
In a recent interview with 8world, Jocie revealed more about her involvement with Sisters Who Make Waves 3, confirming that her team is indeed in contact with the producters.
“So it doesn’t come as a surprise to see my name on the list [of rumoured participants], but my colleague told me that due to the current [COVID-19] restrictions, it’s not easy to fly over to China, but they will still try their best, and that I must be patient,” Jocie said.
The singer is now in Singapore, and will be holding a solo concert on April 24. It was originally scheduled for last weekend (Feb 19), but had to be postponed after Jocie tested positive for COVID-19.
Thankfully, the postponement also means that Jocie will be able to increase the maximum capacity for her concert, as restrictions for concerts and ticketed events will be eased by then.
“This means that more people will be able to be there to hear me sing. I believe that there’s a reason for everything that happens, this is what it means to brave the wind and waves! I’m not panicked,” she says, making references to both the Chinese title of Sisters Who Make Waves and her song, ‘No More Panic’.

She definitely has what it takes
And as for why Jocie expressed interest in joining the show, the singer shared that she has a group of fans to thank.
According to Jocie, these fans have been encouraging her to try out for the show ever since the first season aired.
“Of course, apart from my age, which qualifies me [for the show], they all think that I have an indomitable spirit,” she said.
“It might be ‘cos I always tell them that if they have a dream, they have to be brave and chase it, and have the courage to try new things. I find that the more I share these [encouragements] with everyone, the more strength and motivation I gain to better enrich myself,” she continued.

Jocie will be holding a solo concert on April 23, a day before the Star Awards
