South Korean Netflix series Squid Game is the hottest show to binge-watch right now, and for a good reason.

The show revolves around a ragtag group of cash-strapped individuals, who participate in a series of deadly childhood games to win a huge cash prize, and well, there’s basically a new twist every episode.

The show stars established actors Lee Jung Jae and Park Hae Soo, as well as new faces like Jung Ho Yeon.

The 27-year-old is no stranger to showbiz, having got her start as a model at the age of 16. However, Squid Game is her first acting role.

In the drama, Ho Yeon stars as Player 067 aka North Korean defector Kang Sae Byeok. And it’s safe to say that the role has pretty much catapulted her to international fame.

According to social media statistics website Socialblade, the model-actress now has 7.2mil followers on Instagram, having gained a whopping 5.3mil followers since the show was released on Netflix on September 17.

Ho Yeon’s Instagram game is super strong, with her feed consisting of her modelling shoots, bare-faced selfies and OOTDs.

1 of 3 She's a top model

In 2013, the 1.76m-tall beauty took part in the fourth season of reality competition Korea’s Next Top Model, where she came in first runner-up.

She then went on to model internationally, for brands like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Fendi and more. She’s also appeared on the covers of magazines like Vogue Japan, Vogue Korea, W Korea, and Harper’s Bazaar Korea and was once named one of the world's top 50 models.

She’s really close to Blackpink’s Jennie too.

On September 27, the model-actress posted a picture she’d taken with Jennie on the set of Squid Game, revealing that pop idol had paid her a visit to cheer her on.

Jennie also sent a coffee truck to the set to show her support. Ain’t that sweet?

3 of 3 She’s dating South Korean actor Lee Dong Hwi.

That’s right, Ho Yeon’s taken.

The couple went public with their relationship in 2016, and are said to have started dating in 2015, after being introduced by mutual friends.

Lee Dong Hwi, who’s nine years older than Ho Yeon, is best known for his role in TV drama Reply 1988. He’s also starred in box office hits like Extreme Job and The Handmaiden.
