Now that Christmas Day is almost over, it is time to start planning for Chinese New Year. For the blur folks, Chu Yi falls on Jan 22, 2023. If you are looking to stock up on steamboat ingredients and festive goodies like tidbits and beverages, there’s a warehouse sale by seafood purveyor Far Ocean happening from Jan 7 to Jan 21 (CNY eve).

The sale is held in collaboration with NTUC FairPrice’s Warehouse Club, and will include frozen seafood, meat, beverages like beers and snacks like love letters and keropok. Prices are about 70 per cent lower than retail, which means you can stock up on more goodies for less.

$1 frozen abalones

If you are looking for abalones, the sale is offering Thawed Frozen Half Shell Abalones at $1 each (about 35g to 45g per piece).

$8.80 canned abalones 

You can also get canned braised and brined abalones at $8.80 (eight to 10 pieces per can).

Jumbo freshwater shrimps 

This year, Jumbo Freshwater Shrimps bigger than the size of a hand are also in stock, at $12 a piece ($20 market price). You can get a 1kg box of Frozen Ang Kar Prawn ($21.50) too. 

Other frozen seafood include 1kg Japanese Cooking Scallops ($28.80) and 200g Cod Fish Steak Cut ($18).

Pork and beef 

For those who are stocking up for steamboat sessions, there are also frozen sliced pork and beef packs up for grabs, like 300g Shabu Shabu Pork Collar (2 for $10), 200g Iberico Pork Belly Sukiyaki (2 for $17) and 200g US Prime Short Rib Shabu ($14). 

Meat sliced on the spot 

If you are looking for bigger slabs of premium beef like A5 Miyazaki wagyu beef, this is also available at a dedicated counter within the warehouse, and customers can opt for their beef slabs to be portioned out or thin-sliced for hotpot.

Stock up on beers

For beverages, you can also stock up on booze like Tiger, Carlsberg, Asahi and Heineken beer. Customers who spend $150 on Carlsberg products and any pack of 1664 Blanc (a French beer), Asahi, Connor’s stout and Somersby cider will get to redeem a 24cm Tefal pot worth $219.

Non-alcoholic beverages on offer include Ribena, Coca-Cola, Sprite, 100 Plus, Green Tea, Chrysanthemum Tea and more.

Meet celebs while shopping for CNY

On Jan 7 and 8 you will get to meet celebs like Li Nanxing, Vivian Lai, Julie Tan, Shane Pow, Rayson Tan and Constance Song, who will be making an appearance at the warehouse sale on its opening weekend.

It is worth noting that if you don’t feel like making your way down to the far end of Jurong, you can shop online from Jan 15 to Jan 30 via www.farocean.online. Delivery is free with a minimum spend of $150.
