Ken Chu, 43, Says His Wife Is His Only Friend Now

Yes, none of his fellow F4 members qualify, even back when they were in the band together.

In case you missed it, former F4 members Jerry Yan and Vanness Wu recently reunited on a Chinese variety show and shared some pretty honest thoughts on being in the band that propelled them, Ken Chu, and Vic Chou to fame and heartthrob status in the noughties.

Vanness was particularly candid, admitting that there were a lot of “negative emotions” among the members and that he was relieved when they went their separate ways in 2009.

And a recent interview with Ken, 43, pretty much confirms that the four of them were never that close (which is completely fine, of course — how many of us can truly say we get along with all of our co-workers?).

They’re colleagues, not friends

When asked to name his “three closest friends” when he was 25 years old (which sounds like a pretty obvious ploy to see if Ken would name the other three F4 members), the star simply said: “None.”

True or not?

Ken went on to explain that he has moved at least 40 times since he was a child, so he never had the chance to develop deep friendships with anyone before having to pack up and leave again, and they would naturally lose contact over time.

Even now, he said that he only counts his wife, Chinese actress Vivian Han, as his “one” friend, and nobody else.

Not sure if sweet or sad, to be honest

Ken went on to recall a super awkward moment he had on the set of a movie with one of the wardrobe stylists, who for some reason was behaving in a rather unfriendly way towards him.

Puzzled, Ken asked the stylist if they had met before and if he had hurt him in some way… and the latter said “yes” to both questions. Oops.

However, Ken confessed that he had absolutely no recollection of the person or the offending incident at all. Double oops.

“I felt so terrible at that moment,” he sighed.

Hope Ken gets to make new friends in 2022
