Courts Will Take Over The Heeren Space Vacated By Robinsons

The Orchard Road location will be the home appliance and furniture megastore’s largest outlet and its new flagship store.

The question of who will take over the prime six-storey retail space vacated by department store Robinsons, which shuttered last month, has been answered. Electrical, IT and furniture retailer Courts Singapore has stepped into the 189,000 sq ft location, to offer “innovative retail and experiential offerings focused on unique customer experiences.”

The new store will open in the first quarter of 2022 and will be Courts’ largest outlet in Singapore, and replace its Tampines megastore as the flagship outlet. The chain is now owned by Japanese company Nojima Corporation, and aims to deliver Japanese standards of customer experience as its key differentiating factor.

Courts Megastore at Tampines is the electronics and furniture chain's current flagship store, but will relinquish the flagship title once the Heeren outlet opens in 2022.
Said Mr Hoang Duc Thanh Matthew, Group Chief Operating Officer of COURTS Asia Limited and Country CEO of COURTS Singapore, “Despite the business disruption caused by COVID-19, we have seen a strong recovery for our products to date. With our upcoming flagship store, we are excited to do our part for the overall retail sector by bringing back the energy and vibrancy of a delightful customer experience.”

Courts’ first store in Singapore, which opened in 1974, was on the Orchard shopping belt, and it currently has another store at 228 Orchard Road, which will remain in operation for now.

Who else is excited for six storeys of electronics, IT, furniture and lifestyle products in the middle of Orchard Road?
