Fancy Taking Your Pet Fish Out On A Walk In A Fish Tank Handbag?

Water you waiting for?

This bag may not be able to hold your wallet, phone or TraceTogether token, but it will come in handy if you want to take your pet fish out for a walk.

Behold, a high-tech self-contained portable fish tank bag for you to tote Nemo all around town in. The barrel-shaped vessel comes with a tank, handles, and devices to measure the oxygen saturation and temperature of the water.

But the fish tank handbag, known as the Katsugyo bag, isn’t available for sale just yet. It’s still under development by a company in Japan, which had set up an Instagram account for the product. However, it has taken down photos of the product ever since the bizarre doodad went viral (as it should).

All that's left on the @katsugyo_bag IG account is its bio, which reads: “Developing a fish bag (temporary). It’s a product that carries the fish ‘live’. Bring the fish you caught and the live fish you bought at the market to your home.”

So, no, it was not invented with the intention to let folks take their pet fish out for walks. But it is great news for sashimi fans who like their favourite dish so fresh, it's still alive and swimming even after they buy it at the market.

The company had previously shared more details of the bag: “It’s divided into two units, so when you put in the fish, you can remove the aquarium, store the fish, then connect it to the main body and turn on the power.”

The makers had also revealed that they’re in the midst of working on design details and were carrying out operation checks to ensure the product works.

“Let’s dream of a world where it is natural to carry a product like this,” they’d mused.
