Male stars whose mums stepped in to help when they got into trouble
Some mothers don't know best.
Xukun’s mum thinks it’s a ploy to blackmail her son
Cai Xukun, 24
Earlier this week, Chinese idol Cai Xukun, 24, made headlines after a woman, known only as C, accused him of getting her pregnant after a one-night stand in 2021.
According to reports, when the singer’s mum learned about the pregnancy, she reportedly got her team to contact C about an abortion and offered her money as compensation.
She also asked to see an ultrasound pic of the baby to prove that C was indeed pregnant.
Paranoid that C was out to blackmail her son, Xukun’s mum hired a private investigator to follow C and even installed pinhole camera at her apartment door.
Following the exposé, netizens dubbed Xukun’s mum as “Kris Wu’s mum 2.0”, referring to the disgraced Chinese idol’s overprotective mum and manager Stacy Wu who tried to cover up for her son when he was accused of sexual assault and preying on young fans.
Wang Xiaofei, 42
Ever since Taiwanese star Barbie Hsu and Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei divorced in 2021, they have been embroiled in a string of legal battles.
Last November, Barbie took Xiaofei to court for failing to pay alimony, and later filed a case against him for revealing their two kids’ faces on Douyin.
Instead of remaining low-key, Xiaofei’s mum, Chinese entrepreneur Zhang Lan would take to social media to defend her son… and sometimes create even more drama of her own, like when she alleged that Barbie and sister, host Dee Hsu, “take drugs everyday”.
Jacky Heung, 38
Last year, rumours of a marriage breakdown started swirling after Hong Kong actor Jacky Heung, son of film producer Charles Heung and his wife Tiffany Chen, was accused of cheating on his wife Bea Hayden Kuo when she was pregnant with their second son.
Though Jacky did not address the rumours, Tiffany denied the allegations on his behalf.
Seems like all is well for the couple as Jacky took to social media to share a photo of the family celebrating Bea and Tiffany’s birthdays six months later.
Kris Wu, 32
In August 2021, when Chinese influencer, Du Meizhu, then 18, publicly accused Kris of being a sexual predator in a tell-all post on her Weibo, the star’s mum Stacy Wu thought the teen was trying to blackmail her son and reported her to the police.
Kris was later arrested as more women came forward with their own allegations against the former EXO member.
He was sentenced to 13 years in jail after being found guilty of rape in 2022.
