A-Mei’s 85-Year-Old Mum Recovers From Colon Cancer, Appears In Singer’s Video Looking Healthy
The singer took a hiatus from work in 2019 to spend time with her mother.
Taiwanese pop diva A-mei’s 85-year-old mother, who was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2018, has beaten the sickness.
A-mei, 49, took a step back from work the past two years so she could spend more time with her mum, who had undergone surgery to remove a tumour.
According to A-mei's manager, the singer's mum is doing well health-wise now.
A-mei and her mum
Last week, A-mei, who is of aboriginal descent, took to Instagram to share a rare clip of her mum at a family gathering in Taitung, with the octogenarian looking to be in good spirits.
“All the best singers are present here tonight — my mum, aunts and big sis. So they are going to sing a very nice song,” said A-mei.
In the video, A-mei’s mum and aunts, who were gathered around the dinner table, are seen singing aboriginal tunes and clapping along.
Though A-mei, who was filming the video, did not appear in the clip, she can be heard singing along. She said that everyone was so happy that they cried.
The warm moment touched fans, who left comments like “There is nothing happier in life than this, a family gathering, singing and happiness” and “So cute and so touching”.
