Spotting fake banknotes is not the easiest thing in the world. But it seems a Malaysian woman has spotted a rather peculiar difference in one of them.

The netizen took to Facebook recently with a picture of two 50-ringgit notes side-by-side, except in one of them, Tuanku Abdul Rahman is showing off a grin. Tuanku Abdul Rahman was the first Yang di-pertuan Agong of Malaysia for a five-year term.

“Don’t accept the ones with the smiling Agong’s head!! They are counterfeit banknotes,” the post read.

‘Agong’ is an honorary term for heads of state in Malaysia.

Is it just us or is Agong’s smile looking a little sinister?

Though meant as a warning to be vigilant, it seems netizens were tickled by what they saw, with some saying they found the ‘smiling Agong’ amusing.

“Seeing smile makes me want to smile too,” read a comment while another observed that it looked like the work of AI.

In any case, everyone is advised to examine banknotes thoroughly before accepting them.

In Singapore, police reports should be made upon discovery of fake banknotes.

Anyone who possesses forged or counterfeit currency can be jailed for up to 15 years and be fined.
