Netizens Call China Countdown Show A “Scam” After It Claimed To Have Restored The Late Teresa Teng’s Voice For A Hologram Duet

Turns out, the voice belonged to another singer.

There was a lot of buzz about Jiangsu TV’s New Year’s Eve show, which featured a hologram duet between the late Teresa Teng and Chinese singer Zhou Shen.

Using holographic technology, producers were able to create a life-like hologram of Teresa to make it seem like the singer, who died in 1995, was sharing the stage with Zhou Shen.

During the 10-minute duet, she performed three songs, her classics ‘Walk The Road Of Life’ and ‘Story Of A Small Town' as well as Zhou Shen's hit 'Big Fish', and also interacted with audiences. Unsurprisingly, that segment was called the highlight of the show.

Producers also claimed that technology was used to restore the late singer’s voice.

Turns out, it was all a “scam”, at least according to netizens.

Furious, they took to social media to call out the producers for not only deceiving the audience but also for disrespecting Teresa and Chen Jia.

One netizen said that she didn’t see the point of the performance if they were not going to use Teresa's real voice.
