New pics of HK actress Yuen Qiu, 73, AKA Kung Fu Hustle's landlady, show her looking 'gentle and motherly'

She can't be more different from that iconic Stephen Chow movie character.

Although Hong Kong actress Yuen Qiu, 73, has greatly reduced her on-screen appearances in recent years, many still remember her as the Landlady of Pig Sty Alley in Stephen Chow's 2004 comedy classic Kungfu Hustle

Seriously, how can anyone forget the cigarette-inhaling, nightgown-wearing landlady with hair rollers? Any costume party since then will surely see someone dressed as the iconic character.

Yuen Qiu’s younger sister, actress Wen Xue Er, recently held a 100-days celebration for her grandchild. Yuen Qiu, along with their relatives and celeb pals, were all there to witness the happy occasion.

After photos from the party were posted online, many netizens were surprised at how different Yuen Qiu looks now.

She appears to have lost quite a bit of weight from her Kungfu Hustle days and  looks nothing like the feisty Landlady. Instead, netizens describe her as “gentle and motherly”.

According to reports, Stephen had requested Yuen Qiu, who was a martial arts star in the 1970s, to put on weight to play the Landlady.

She managed to put on 14kg in just two months, and successfully brought the comedy legend's vision to life.

Yuen Qiu went on to win Best Supporting Actress for that role at the Golden Horse Awards in 2005.

She's one of the most iconic characters in Asian cinema
