No April Fool’s Joke: DJ Lin Peifen Takes A Break After 22 Years On YES 933

The mother-of-two said she is “temporarily relinquishing her DJ position” to find new direction in life.

Mornings will not be the same for fans of Lin Peifen’s YES 933 radio show from tomorrow (April 1).

The 39-year-old, who helms the weekday lunchtime show from 10am to noon on the Mediacorp radio station, announced on Instagram that she will “temporarily relinquish [her] post as a radio DJ”.

"I'm sorry for not informing you earlier, but the point is not when we bid farewell, but the moments we have made, shared, and treasured together,” Peifen wrote.

8days.sg understands that Peifen, who has been with YES 933 for 22 years, is taking a sabbatical from work, although the duration of her leave isn’t clear.

The mother-of-two said she is leaving radio for the time being “to take care of [her] other responsibilities and find a new direction” in life.

"All I want to say is that my family and I are fine. This decision was not made on impulse, but after much thought and planning,” she added.

"I believe we will still meet on air in future.”

Fans and celeb pals flooded the comment section with well wishes for Peifen.

“All the very best to your future endeavors,” wrote singer Hong Junyang, while fellow YES 933 DJ Zhu Zeliang said he would “wait for [her] return.”

Meanwhile, Kunhua quipped that people would take this as an April Fool's joke.

Peifen got her start in radio when she was 18 after winning a radio DJ contest organised by YES 933 in 2000.

She started out as a part-time DJ before joining full-time after graduating from university three years later .
