South Korean actress Park So Dam has undergone surgery after being diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer.
The 30-year-old, who played bogus art therapist Jessica in Parasite, which won Best Picture at the 2020 Oscars, found out about her condition after a routine check-up.
Her agency, ArtistCompany, has said that the actress will be taking a break in order to focus on her health, adding that they will do their best to support her while she recovers.
So Dam was slated to promote her upcoming action movie Special Delivery but will not be able to do so now.

Get well soon!
So Dam is regarded as one of Korea's most promising young stars and has won multiple awards since she started acting in 2013.
Apart from Parasite, she is also known for her work in 2015's The Priests, for which she won Best New Actress at the prestigious Baeksang Arts Awards and Blue Dragon Film Awards.
Papillary thyroid cancer is known to be more common among young women, and has a close to 100 per cent survival rate if the cancer has not spread beyond the thyroid. Papillary thyroid cancer is the most common type of thyroid cancers, accounting for about 80 per cent of all cases.
