Andy Lau Wants An Epic Reunion For The Four Heavenly Kings - But Who's Holding Them Back?
Andy's dream is to see them mentoring on a singing show.
Long before today’s hottest boybands existed (or were even born, for that matter), there were the Four Heavenly Kings. Granted, Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung, Aaron Kwok and Leon Lai were individual superstars in their own right, but they were often grouped together, they may as well have been a supergroup.
And if Andy Lau had his way, the Four Heavenly Kings would be on the same stage working together again, in what would undoubtedly be the reunion of the century.
Andy recently expressed this epic wish of his during an interview with Chinese talk show host Chen Luyu. The 57-year-old star's dream scenario involves the Heavenly Kings coming together to be mentors on a singing competition programme, which is all the rage these days.
In fact, he is so serious about this that he declared he would immediately get started on making the necessary arrangements as soon as he gets the green light from the other three members.
Unfortunately, there is one small problem: not all four stars will approve. “Jacky Cheung may not be willing to do it,” Andy said.
After all, Jacky has once turned down an offer to be a mentor on a Chinese music programme. At that time, Jacky explained that he felt he was not qualified enough to take on such a role. When asked why he's never been a coach in similar programmes, Andy also gave a similar reason.
Wow. We’re all for humility and all, but if Jacky Cheung and Andy Lau aren’t qualified to be singing mentors, then who is?
In the same interview, Andy also revealed more about his personal life and his family. He admitted with a laugh that he loves his seven-year-old daughter Hanna more than his wife, former beauty queen Carol Chu.
He loves her so much that as long as he is in Hong Kong, he is willing to wake up at 7am every morning to send her to school, and walk his daughter right up to the second storey. The school, by the way, is a private institution where there are - get ready for this - no exams. “I don’t want to give her too much pressure,” he explained.
Where do we sign up to become Andy Lau's kids?
