If you recently got your COVID-19 jab, you would know to avoid doing strenuous physical activity for seven days after both doses as recommended by the Ministry of Health (MOH).

The new guidelines are based on emerging reports on the “small risk” of heart inflammation observed in those who received mRNA vaccines, and particularly applies to young men under the age of 30.

However, it looks like women have to be very careful as well.

Recently, 26-year-old actress-host Naomi Yeo, who is the wife of singer Benjamin Kheng, 30, took to social media to share what happened when she hastily resumed her usual workout routine not long after getting her Moderna shot.

Spoiler alert: It wasn’t a good idea at all.

“My impatient self got the better of me, and I now have to face the music!” wrote Naomi in an Instagram Stories post. “If you’ve been following my stories, I got my second dose and started showing all side effects of the Moderna vaccine (sic).”

As soon as her fever broke, Naomi “felt confident enough” to start exercising like normal again, but as she soon found out, it was a “big mistake”.

“I started feeling tightness in my chest on Monday evening, and what felt like a gentle squeeze turned into something painful,” she recalled. “By Tuesday night, I couldn’t deny this pressure on my chest and Ben sent me to the hospital to get some answers.”

Fortunately, a checkup confirmed that Naomi was not suffering from myocarditis (an inflammation of the heart muscle), but the doctor did determine that her chest pains were a result of the vaccination, and that she could most likely have avoided this whole ordeal if she had waited a little longer to exercise.

Naomi then took the opportunity to urge her followers not to repeat her mistake and “avoid doing ANY physical workout or activity for about a week” after getting their shots.

“I’m now on muscle relaxants to help with the tightness. And I’m sitting here with my thoughts, wondering why I couldn’t have just waited a week. This scare just isn’t worth it, and I should’ve known better,” she mused. “Please take care, and if you’ve got your shot, learn from me. Just keep yourself accountable!”
