We’ve seen loads of celeb kids celebrate their birthdays recently, from former actress Ivy Lee’s twin sons Dash and Nik, to Ah Jie Zoe Tay’s eldest son, Brayden.

This week, it's Chen Xiuhuan’s daughter, Shalynn Tsai, who just turned 21.

And if the name Shalynn sounds kinda familiar, well, it’s probably ‘cos Shalynn, along with other second-gen stars like Chantalle Ng, Calvert Tay and Chen Yixin, had starred in the 2017 Mediacorp drama, While We Are Young.

While throwing a huge party is impossible ’cos of the COVID-19 pandemic, Xiuhuan, 55, still managed to pull out all the stops for a small celebration with her family at home, including Shalynn’s two sisters, Shanisse, 23, and Shavinne, 17.

But what was the most eye-catching was the Tiffany-blue box set out on the table, alongside the cake.

As it turns out, apart from being a coming-of-age present for Shalynn, there’s also a super sweet and meaningful story behind the gift from Xiuhuan and her Taiwanese businessman husband.

But wait! There’s more.

Apart from a key pendant, Xiuhuan also added two heart charms, meant to represent how Xiuhuan and her husband will always “love and support” Shalynn.

“You’ll always have our love forever. Regardless of how old you are, in our hearts, you’ll always be our baby,” wrote Xiuhuan.
